I'm a Ph.D. Candidate in the Data Compression Lab. My advisor is professor Eve Riskin.

My research interests include wavelet-based image and video coding systems and methods of transmitting images and video data through lossy packet networks (packet erasure channels).

My current work concentrates on using the Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Trees (SPIHT) compression algorithm in the framework of Generalized Multiple Description Coding. By adding controlled amounts of redundancy to the image before it is compressed, we achieve graceful degradation of the image quality in the presence of increasing packet/description loss. For more details, please see the research section of this page.
